THE LAST SERMON

                                               BISMILLAH HIRRAHMAN NIRRAHIM

                                            THE LAST SERMON (KHUTBATUL-WIDA)

This is the message delivered by the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) on 9th of Islamic Month of DHU AL-HIJJAH or 6th of March 632 (FRIDAY) at URANAH VALLEY of MOUNT ARAFAT. Through this message the holy prophet has given the UMMAH the way of living the sacred life . He has shown the light to the UMMAH following which a perfect order could be achieved. At this moment one important fact needs to be discussed that the holy prophet (PBUH) has performed the HAJJ only once in his life time and that is at this time.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE AND TAKE AWAY

1. IMPORTANCE OF LIFE, PROPERTY and HONOUR

He reminded the Ummah and the people about the importance of each others life, wealth and dignity and in this concern holy prophet said that everyone's life , wealth and dignity needs to be honored at any cost. In the present world these principles are far from being observed in spirit. People very easily make bad comments / mockery of others on very small things without being mindful of the fact that how the other person will feel. Dignity is tarnished at every front of life just on the basis of ECONOMIC, REGIONAL, RELEGIONAL, CASTE, COLOUR divides etc. Properties are being captured and confiscated by applying wrong means, false cases. Just to attain temporary worldly pleasures this very important principle is ignored which indeed is cause of misery and problems.

2. EQUALITY OF ALL HUMAN BEINGS

Prophet (PBUH) clearly said that NO ARAB has any superiority over a NON-ARAB . Also no WHITE is having any superiority over a BLACK. The superiority can only be classified in terms of piety, good actions and righteousness . Every Muslim is a brother to other Muslim. Here the Holy Prophet has clearly mentioned that all man kind are Allah's creation and their must not be any differentiation among the human race. The one who follows the right path, do good deeds with people will be better in the eyes of almighty. This message clearly abolished discrimination and the same is observed in spirit during HAJJ where people from different walks of life performs together forgetting the materialistic differences. Here 4 lines from the famous SHIKWA, JAWAB-E-SHIKWA by ALLAMA MOHAMMAD IQBAL are important to be mentioned.

" Ek hi saf me khade ho gaye memood o ayyaz

Na koi banda raha na banda nawaaz"

"Saahib o Mohtaaz O Ghani Ek hue,

Teri sarkaar me pahunche to sabhi ek hue"

                                     "एक ही सफ़ में खड़े हो गए महमूद-ओ-अयाज़,

                                   न कोई बन्दा रहा और न कोई बन्दा-नवाज़"

                                   बंदा-ओ-साहिब-ओ-मोहताज-ओ-ग़नी एक हुए

                                    तेरी सरकार में पहुँचे तो सभी एक हुए"

Mahmood the king and slave Ayaz, in line, as equals, stood arrayed,

The lord was no more lord to slave: while both to the One Master prayed.

3. KINDNESS TOWARDS WOMEN AND CHILDREN

The holy prophet (PBUH) said that both Men and Women are having rights over each other. But here he specially addresses the Husbands that their wives are their partners and committed helpers hence they have all rights to be fed and clothed properly and to be treated kindly. Hence women are to be treated in kindness. This very principle is shaken all around the world badly and specially among the Muslims. Most of the Men only exerts the rights and remains unmindful of their duties. Such a behaviors many a times resulted in a broken and shaken family. This message emphasized on mutual respect to be given by Husbands and Wives to each other which will definitely result in a strong and happy family. This message also shatters the false claims of various people, media reports and others that Islam treats women badly. It can easily be understood that how Islam valued a women as the most important personality The Holy Prophet has given such an emphasis on this point in his last Sermon.

4. AVOID ECONOMIC INEQUALITY

Inequality arises when wealth is improperly distributed in the society and hence the holy prophet emphasized on observing one of the most important pillars of ISLAM i.e. ZAKAT (ALMS). He said that those who are capable must give ALMS , ZAKAT to the needies and this will definitely purify their earnings. This will help in redistribution of wealth and will let the needful ones living a honorable life. The onus is on all those who have been showered with economic bounty by the almighty. With that comes the great responsibility of sharing. On the other hand the ritual of usury has been abolished which has become a tool of oppression over the years. Hence all usury has been abolished .

5. OBSERVING ISLAMIC PRINCIPLES

Finally the holy prophet clarified that the two most important things which will be left for the believers to follow are QURAN and SUNNAH and hence every Muslim must follow the teachings of QURAN and SUNNAH which are the keys to success. Hence in times of confusion, problems , miseries we must look forward to the HOLY QURAN for solution and guidance. Present days instead of that people are trying to find the solutions to their problems in worldly affairs. A very small example to this is whenever any one of us encounters a tiny health issue we suddenly starts looking for a medicine or a doctor. The holy QURAN mentioned that SURAH FATIHA is also SURAH SHIFA hence in such times recite and blow over which will inshallah definitely cause relief.

May the Almighty Guides us to stick and follow the guidance given by the holy prophet (PBUH) during his last sermon.

 ALLAH KNOWS THE BEST.
